John Pendry is one of the world’s leading theoretical physicists who’s achievements have attracted world-wide attention; most notably, his 2006 discovery that crowned him the inventor of a Harry Potter style invisible cloak by the press. John is now busy pioneering a new field of metamaterials and is dedicating his time to encouraging the scientists of the future to take his ideas further. In an interview last year he concluded, ‘Ultimately, if your going to pay your debt to society for having all this fun with science, somebody has to make something with it.’ What better reason to do a TED talk than that?!
